Coming Back To My Trees invokes magic, mystery and spirit of place in that search for a sense of belonging to a place and people where our roots can run deep. Weaving together history and mythology the book is not only a wonderful travelogue of beautiful mystical Cymru but also a guide through loss

Janine Hartley – Druid Mentor

Got me a copy of 'Coming Back to my Trees : Dod yn ôl at af nghoed' by Deborah Hutchings. Congratulations Deb! It's so exciting. What an acheievment. I can't wait to read more of this story of you coming home to the land. Always a pleasure to be in circle with you. You're a brilliant storyteller.

It normally takes me a few days/weeks to read a book, but as soon as I began reading this book I couldn't put it down. Well worth the 3-days being immersed in the story.

A heartfelt invitation to rediscover my Welsh roots

Coming Back to My Trees* touched something deep within me. So much of Debbie's journey resonated with my own, even though my path to understanding my Welsh identity has been different.  I was raised in England in a family who identified as English, despite our deep Welsh ancestry. Because of that, I never felt I had permission to call myself Welsh. Yet throughout my life I've been affectionately teased for my love of Wales - I've often been told I should work for the Welsh Tourist Board!  The truth is, the land of Wales has always lived in my blood. It's a connection that exists beyond words or logic—a knowing that has always been there.  Living in Canada has made me acutely aware of the lasting impacts of colonisation. Only recently have I consciously recognised that the Celtic lands of Wales, Scotland and Ireland were among the earlier peoples to experience these forces. As I continue exploring my own ancestry, I find myself recognising that I am both a daughter of the oppressed and the oppressor. This book has encouraged me to consider how I can help restore balance, respect and awareness for traditions and ways of life that were diminished or almost lost.  This was a book that truly touched both my heart and my soul. It invited me to journey more deeply into my own story while wrapping me in the warmth of Wales itself - from the comfort of cawl, a cup of tea and a Welsh cake to the deeper sense of belonging that Debbie so beautifully conveys. I found aspects of myself reflected and validated in ways I hadn't realised I needed.  Thank you, Debbie, for writing this beautiful book. I've already ordered the Oracle Cards and I hope one day to visit the UK and join one of your Welsh Druid Tours in person.
